Quality is when your QMB goes “High-Five-S” with you

Practized Quality Management (QM) at the TRAMAG plant BOHEMIA-Trafo with the 5S Methodology

We know where quality must ultimately be demonstrated and proven:
In the product, in the customer’s application. But where does quality begin? On the one hand in technical development and on the other hand in the organization of workplaces in production. Employees who keep their workstations tidy maintain an overview, have access to the right tools at all times and can work on the product efficiently and with quality assurance.

At the beginning of the introduction of 5S in our Czech plant:
There was no trace of enthusiasm among the employees at the start of the program; the QM colleague responsible for the project worked with great perseverance to motivate them on a daily basis. His daily tour documents and communicates what has been achieved and where improvements are needed by means of photos and notes. As the visibility of 5S implementation increases and the positive experience of the benefits in practice grows, so too does acceptance and 5S ownership.

After all, a well-organized and tidy workplace simplifies your own work, creates space and an overview, shortens throughput times and strengthens team spirit. And … living 5S also promotes the basic principle of lean management, namely the avoidance of waste. Today, the 5S principle is sustainably integrated into the work routines and our plant QMB celebrates this success: A high five for the BOHEMIA team!
